Kansas City University Libraries: How to Use the MOBIUS Catalog

Welcome to the KCU Libraries

How to Use the MOBIUS Catalog

MOBIUS is a consortium of libraries in Missouri and the surrounding areas. As a KCU student, staff, or faculty member, you can borrow books and other items for free through our shared MOBIUS catalog.

Your Account

Navigate to the MOBIUS catalog and click on the user icon in the top right corner:

Choose Kansas City University from the dropdown menu:

Log in with the barcode and PIN you use for KCU's library catalog. If you haven't created an account for our library catalog yet, please follow these instructions.

How to Place a Request

Search the catalog for anything--if you find what you're looking for, click on the title:

If one of the owning libraries is willing to lend it, you will see a "Place Hold" button. (If you don't see an option to place a hold, that means none of the libraries who own the item are willing/able to lend it.)

Click on "Place hold." A box will pop up, prompting you to choose your pickup location (either the D'Angelo Library in Kansas City, or the Dawson Library in Joplin).

Library staff will contact you when your item arrives. Typically you will be able to borrow items through MOBIUS for 40 days. You cannot renew your items through the MOBIUS catalog, but if you need something for longer than 40 days, please let library staff know and we can request permission from the lending library.

Can't find what you're looking for? If the MOBIUS catalog doesn't have the title you need, you can request it through Interlibrary Loan. Please fill out and submit this form.
